hipster squares ftw! tonight i finished the afghan i started last fall! i am 75% satisfied with the final product. i screwed up the corners and didn’t realize it until it would really complicate things to fix it. i made them far too small (half the size they should have been…not sure what i was thinking) so i blocked the heck out of them, but they are still pretty shrunken. but, it’s not very often it will be laid out flat. when you’re all cozied up with it on the couch, it’s not even noticeable!
this was an original design. there is one large granny square in the middle, surrounded by squares with 5 rounds, and the outer two rows have squares with 4 rounds. i used carina’s joining method so that i could incorporate rows of black in between the squares. i love the color combination! however, i am a little iffy on the joining method. next time, i’d like to try this join-as-you-go method – there isn’t much i hate more than weaving in ends, so this would be a godsend!!!
